Logically speaking, all beaches are alike, be it in Florida or in other parts of the world, but we often get curious to know, which are the most beautiful and tourist friendly beaches in the world. Dr Beach, who is Dr Stephen P Leatherman, the Director of Florida International University’s Laboratory for Coastal Research has been evaluating beaches of the US since 1991 and have come up with lists of top ten beaches every year since then.
Two of the Florida beaches have featured in Dr Beach’s list this year, one being the Siesta Beach near Sarasota and the second is the Cape Florida State Park near Key Biscayne. Not only are these beaches selected because they are beautiful, but also because they meet the strict 50 criteria set up by Dr Stephen P Leatherman, to evaluate beaches. Some of the things which are kept into consideration while assessing a beach are water and sand quality, safety, facilities and environmental management. The beach that tops the list this year is Hanalei Bay, which used to be considered as a Florida beach, but is now with Hawaii.
Dr Beach list has made one thing crystal clear, that all good things that are said for Florida’s beaches are all justified. On a vacation to Florida, tourists cannot afford to miss these picturesque beaches, besides the adventure packed theme parks of FL.
